Getting Started

To ensure that parents and godparents understand the meaning of the sacrament of Baptism, what to expect on the day of Baptism, and to reflect on the responsibilities that accompany their roles, we require that all new parents and request that godparents attend a Baptism preparation session known as Pre-Jordan.

We respectfully ask that all parents and encourage all godparents to take some time on your own to view two on-line videos which explain in a non-lecture format the meaning of Baptism and the role of godparents. Please share the information below with your prospective godparents so they, too, can watch the videos prior to the Pre-Jordan session. The instructions to find the videos on-line are:

  1. Go to the website at formed.org and sign in using the Parish access code ZR6M2C. There is no cost to register or view the content on the website. Disregard any reference to costs that may pop up when you initially submit your profile information. After you register for the first time and set up a password, then you can return to the website any time with out the Parish access code by simply typing in your email address and password you created on your first visit to the Login screen.
  2. Scroll down to the program entitled “Reborn – You, Your Child, and the Heart of Baptism.” Clicking on that will open up a series of video programs related to different aspects of Baptism. We ask that you watch both the session entitled “Session 1 – A New Creation” and the session entitled “The Gift of Godparents.” Each program is about 40 minutes in length. We have found these videos to be interesting and informative in helping you to be more fully prepared for both the Baptism day and for your important role in raising your child in the Catholic faith in the years ahead.

Thank you and we look forward to rejoicing with you as we prepare to welcome your child
into the Catholic Church through the Sacrament of Baptism
